Denver Forest School is inspired by the European Forest School and Reggio Philosophies. Unlike a traditional preschool, Denver Forest School operates exclusively outdoors. Children engage and learn in and from the natural environment. Learning guides are present to scaffold and facilitate children’s learning. Children guide their own experiences and learning based on their particular interests. Denver Forest School focuses on pre-academic skill development. These include critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and building social and emotional competence.
Our learning guides scaffold the children’s learning as they explore and engage with each other and the environment. Denver Forest School allows children the space and freedom to examine their own interests, while supporting each child’s development. We model appropriate behavior and language, ask questions and are there for the children for whatever they might need.
Denver Forest School’s mission is to connect children with their natural world through exploration, inquiry and investigation. Our aim is to provide high-quality, meaningful learning experiences that meet children’s developmental needs, while fostering their natural curiosity. Denver Forest School offers a nurturing learning environment, experienced learning guides, and unique, hands-on learning opportunities that help build the foundation for the future.
